The President's Research Excellence and Impact Excellence in Research Supervision Awards recognise registered UL PhD supervisors who demonstrate outstanding supervision practice and strong outcomes for postgraduate researchers (PGRs).
Applications are to be submitted in the following categories:
Emerging (2–12 years post-PhD)
Established (12+ years post-PhD)
Applicants provide evidence across four areas, which will be adjudicated on by an independent panel of judges:
mentorship and academic guidance
research development and scholarly achievement
professional development and networking
commitment in supervision, including timely progression/completion and reflective practice
Prize
President’s Research Excellence and Impact medal and €1,000 research funding (One award per category)

Application and award process
- Applications are made by email to doctoralcollege@ul.ie using the appropriate form.
- The applicant must be a current University of Limerick employee at the time of the award.
- Applicants are advised to stay within the word-count limit set on the forms. Submitted forms which exceed word-count limits will be disregarded.
Evaluation
The President’s Research Excellence and Impact Excellence in Research Supervision Awards will be adjudicated by a panel chaired by the Assistant Deans Research of each faculty.
