Head Start Maths for New Mature Students 2025

Purpose designed online maths course for mature University of Limerick students seeking to refresh or improve their mathematical skills prior to beginning their studies at UL. This course is suitable for students who will be studying Business, Arts, Sciences, etc. This course is taken by incoming UL students on a voluntary basis. 

 

Registration Deadline: Wednesday August 6th 2025 at 5p.m.

Week 1: Level 1 – August 11th to 15th 2025

Week 2: Level 2 – August 18th to 22nd  2025

This online course is Free of Charge for incoming mature students.

Summary of the Head-Start Course

Level 1

  • Recommended for mature students who have not studied maths in school or formally for a long time.
  • Revision of maths fundamentals that you will need to aid you in your degree programme.

Level 2

  • Recommended for mature students who will study engineering, applied physics, mathematics, science or technology based degree programmes.
  • Builds upon Level 1 and covers some of the more advanced maths that may be required for the above degree programmes.
  • Students with a good base in maths fundamentals may find Level 2 sufficient for their upcoming undergraduate studies.

Further information on the online platform and course structure will be emailed to all students who register for the course after the closing date of August 6th.

You are welcome to engage with both Level 1 and Level 2 on our online platform. All participants will be added to our online Head-Start Maths platform using the email address that participants use to register where both levels will be available.
