Age diversity is a common characteristic of society, yet in the workplace, our age can be far more than just a number. Managing an increasingly age diverse workforce is a pressing challenge because age carries with it a weight of meaning, assumption and presumption that can have significant negative effects on workers across all ages. Our research interests lie in identifying how and where negative ageist attitudes in the workplace create significant barriers for workers (across ages) and can adversely affect their everyday and long-term employment experiences as they face age stereotyping, age prejudice, and ultimately age discrimination at work.
