The Energy Research Pillar: Powered by Three Expert Teams

The Energy pillar aims to advance the future of sustainable energy through integrated, multidisciplinary research that unites expertise in battery science, micro-scale thermal and fluidic engineering, and next-generation energy generation and conversion materials.

We push the boundaries of electrochemical energy storage through advanced electrode material development and pioneering in-operando and in-situ characterization, while simultaneously investigating micro-scale mechanical, thermal, and fluidic phenomena essential to the performance and reliability of electronic and micro-electromechanical systems, with strengths spanning heat transfer, optical measurement, microfluidics, and electronics cooling.

Complementing these efforts, we design and synthesize innovative materials including metal-organic frameworks, inorganic nanomaterials, and electropolymers via various bottom up approaches to enable transformative applications such as carbon capture and reduction, biosensing, photovoltaics, and thermoelectrics. Together, we cultivate scientific excellence and technological innovation to create impactful, scalable solutions that address global energy challenges and empower a sustainable future.
