Lero Director inaugurated into ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Academy

Professor Lionel C. Briand, Director of the Lero Research Centre, has been inaugurated into the founding class of the ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Academy. Eighty founding members have been recognised for lasting contributions to software engineering.

The Academy celebrates the people whose cumulative work, and whose influence on the work of others, have advanced software engineering as a discipline and a practice. To seed the Academy, the inaugural members were drawn from those whose standing in the field is already firmly established. Recognised leaders whose contributions the community has long acknowledged.

The ACM Special Interest Group on Software Engineering (SIGSOFT) seeks to improve our ability to engineer software by stimulating interaction among practitioners, researchers, and educators; by fostering the professional development of software engineers; and by representing software engineers to professional, legal, and political entities.
