The University of Limerick (UL) enjoyed significant research success at this year’s International Sustainable Ecological Engineering Design for Society (SEEDS) Conference 2026, held in London.

A strong delegation from UL’s Irish Construction Management Research Centre (ICMRC) presented six research papers at the international conference, showcasing ongoing research across a range of contemporary issues within construction management and the built environment.

Representing UL at the conference were Dr. John Spillane, Dr. Jim Bradley, Dr. Michael Curran and Dr. Tadhg O’Neill, alongside postgraduate and PhD researchers Aaron O’Neill and John Lillis, with Cillian Keane participating remotely.

The UL delegation enjoyed success at the conference awards, with two papers receiving three awards.

Dr. Jim Bradley’s research on the integration of Generative AI (GenAI) within construction management education received Best Paper in the “Consequences of AI on People” category, as well as the prestigious SEEDS 2026 CIOB Award for Best Technical Paper. Further success came for Dr. Michael Curran, whose research examining work-life balance among construction site management professionals in Ireland received the SEEDS 2026 Chair’s Award.

The three awards represent an excellent achievement for the UL research team and, together with the six papers presented by staff and postgraduate researchers, highlight the breadth and quality of construction management research currently being undertaken at UL.

The strong showing at SEEDS 2026 further enhances the ICMRC’s growing international research profile and reflects UL’s continued contribution to research addressing the technological, social and organisational challenges facing the construction industry.
