A central theme of the Limerick Digital Cancer Research Centre is the concept of the Digital Cancer Patient. Research in this domain is being delivered through five scientific pillars.
Devices are at the core of developing the Digital Cancer Patient and this theme will focus on developing the latest technology to meet the pre-clinical, clinical and industrial needs for improved pathology, diagnostics, prognostics & treatment monitoring.
This group will drive towards disruptive innovations to foster development and implementation of digital pathology for cancer Imaging, diagnosis and therapy in both clinical and non-clinical settings.
This Grouping will bring together the core functions necessary to establish a diagnostic test discovery-evaluation-implementation pipeline into which will be embedded assay development programmes and training and educational opportunities.
The central objective of this theme is to employ AI-based data analysis methods that can learn and represent knowledge from high-dimensional datasets. Ultimately, our research aims to create the Digital Oncologist and a Digital Patient.
This group will build an integrated platform for translational cancer research using advanced techniques of software, data and system integration: the Cancer Research Digital Thread.
