Membership

There are five different types of LDCRC membership:

Full membership: Members of staff of the University of Limerick or University Hospital Limerick who meet the full membership criteria set out below.

Researcher Membership: ​Postgraduate/postdoctoral researchers and other research or clinical staff may apply provided their supervisors are full LDCRC members. Please submit 2-page CV with a brief statement of eligibility. 

Affilliate Membership: Individuals who have evidence of research in cancer and who do not meet the criteria for full membership. 

Industry Membership: Available by invitation.

Community Membership: Available by invitation. If you would like to become a member, please read through the membership criteria below if you meet said criteria you can fill out the application form.  If you have questions or want a paper copy of the form, please email us at ldcrc@ul.ie 

  • Opportunities to network and collaborate with LDCRC members across both academic and clinical groups.
  • Access to future internal funding streams.
  • Access to national funding streams through the All-Island Cancer Research Institute. 
  • Invitation to LDCRC events (workshops, networking events, seminars etc).
  • Invitation to Annual Research Retreat for LDCRC members. 
  • Access to LDCRC infrastructure, e.g. equipment, services (discounted rates), patient access and tissue banking etc. 
  • Access to Cancer Clinical Trial Unit.
  • Links with National Clinical Trial Organisations – such as Cancer Trials Ireland (can refer researchers for membership especially to translational research group of CTI) – and Blood Cancer Network Ireland (trials and biobank for blood cancer research). 
  • Links with international experts in cancer care.
  • Support for grant writing (via grant writing workshops/panels. 
  • Access to LDCRC members who have full membership of AACR  and can sponsor abstracts at AACR meetings. 
  • Invitation to join the LDCRC MS Teams channel.

Publications 

Senior/joint senior in cancer research or a closely related field in the *last 5 years. Please highlight up to 3 research publications in the last 5 years 

 

Grant income 

Evidence of relevant funding as PI or co-PI within past 5 years. 

 

Research Impact in cancer research 

Markers of impact; this might include metrics eg. H-Index or other markers of impact. 

 

Academic and/or Clinical leadership 

e.g. Membership of cancer related organisations – Member of National/International review bodies etc.  

 

Expertise in Clinical Cancer Care  

 

Expertise in a clinical specialty e.g. pathology, surgery, oncology, clinical trials with research publications.  

(minimum 5 years) 

 

*Leave of absence for maternity, caregiving, illness etc. will be taken into account. Please indicate if you wish any leave of absence to be taken into account. 

 

 

Publications 

Evidence of research activity in cancer research or a closely related discipline – please highlight up to 3 research publications in the last 5 years
