Dr Calderón is an Associate Professor A in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences. He joined the University of Limerick in 2016 after 10 years in Spanish higher education.
At UL, he has been Course Director for the Professional Master of Education (Physical Education) since 2020 and has contributed to several faculty and university committees on teaching and learning, and educational technologies. His research focuses on the pedagogies of physical education teacher education, with particular attention to teaching about teaching and learning, and digital pedagogies. An award-winning and passionate teacher educator with university and national recognitions, he is currently involved in Ireland’s first longitudinal national study examining teachers’ professional journeys. He is also a founding member of the first UNESCO Chair housed at UL in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy for Sustainable Development.
