Department of Economics

The Department of Economics is one of four constituent Departments in the Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick. The current Economics team consists of twelve full time faculty (and four Teaching Assistants) and post-doctoral researchers. 

The research expertise in the Department of Economics is primarily in the field of Applied Economics and Public Policy.   Two research centres, the Euro-Asia Research Centre and the National Centre for Tourism Policy Studies are located in the Department. There are also an active research groups in the following areas: Privatisation and PPPs; the Economics of Innovation and Policy; and Efficiency and Productivity Analysis.  Other faculty research specialisms include the Political Economy of Small Open Economies, the Economics of Education, Health Economics, Industrial/Enterprise Growth and development and Policy evaluation.

The Department delivers approximately 50 economics modules on undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, and executive programmes. Faculty in the Department of Economics are outstanding teachers and a number of faculty have been recipients of various university and national teaching awards.

The Department, working in conjunction with the KBS Research Office, also offers a PhD programme.
