Thursday, 23 March 2023

Culture Shocked!: Visual Impressions of Intercultural Encounters will be officially launched today, Thursday 23rd March at 1pm in the Bourn Vincent Gallery, Foundation Building, University of Limerick.

The exhibition, which will be opened by Prof. Kerstin Mey, President, University of Limerick, and Project Leader Dr. Florence Le Baron-Earle, School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics, showcases fifty comic-style illustrations and celebrates the University of Limerick's diversity through the capturing of funny and authentic cross-cultural incidents experienced by UL students and staff.

The exhibition will run from Thursday 23rd March until Saturday 13th May, with the images also available to view online through a specially-designed eComic here.

The event is funded by UL Visual Arts (Corporate Secretary's Office); University of Limerick Arts Office(Student Affairs Division); the School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics; the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty Teaching Board; the ADI Internationalisation FundUL Global; and the Tell Your Own Story Project.

We hope you enjoy the illustrations which the project members have worked hard to create over the past few months, and that you will be able to visit the exhibition in UL at some point to experience their artwork in person!
