As part of Green Campus Week, UL Student Sustainability hosted a dynamic panel discussion on March 7, 2023, bringing together student societies to explore the intersection of sustainability with their respective fields. The session aimed to facilitate dialogue and exchange of ideas, promoting collaboration towards a more sustainable campus community.

Moderated by Katie McNicholas, the panel featured representatives from Consulting and Entrepreneurship, Cumann Gaelach, and Environmental Society. Each society provided unique insights into their sustainability initiatives, sharing successes, challenges, and best practices.

The Consulting and Entrepreneurship society highlighted the importance of integrating sustainable practices into business ventures, emphasising the role of innovation and social responsibility in driving positive change. Cumann Gaelach discussed the cultural significance of sustainability within the Irish language community, showcasing initiatives to promote environmental awareness through linguistic activism. The Environmental Society offered valuable perspectives on grassroots activism and advocacy, underscoring the importance of collective action in addressing environmental issues.

Throughout the discussion, participants exchanged ideas on collaborative projects, such as eco-friendly entrepreneurship ventures and cultural sustainability campaigns.

By the end of the session, participants emerged with a deeper understanding of how diverse student societies can work together to advance sustainability goals. The panel discussion served as a catalyst for future collaborations, inspiring attendees to harness their collective passion and expertise towards creating a more sustainable campus and community.
