People who suffer from a hemiplegia (a type of stroke) can lose movement in one side of their body and experience weakness in muscles and limbs. R.E.M. (React. Engage. Move.) is a dual moving joystick mechanism designed for stroke recovery. It is targeted at lower arm muscle recovery and aims to improve overall recovery of the affected muscle. The novel aspect of this design is that the unaffected arm can guide the affected arm on the road to recovery. The twin moving joysticks are connected to a game where the user will use the joysticks to navigate through each stage of stroke recovery.
