Suas

Suas is a simple but effective solution to allow children living with Spina Bifida to grow with their orthotics. At present, when children outgrow their orthotics, they must join a waiting list that can be months long to get cast for a new one. This means that they are left wearing an orthotic that is too small and effectively useless. Suas will act as a bridge between the time where the child has grown and the time where they can be fitted for a new one. The design has an outer sleeve that will slide up the outside of the orthotic telescopically and secured in place using socket screws and an insert will be swapped for the next size each time the orthotic is extended. The toe plate is also a separate part to the main orthotic which can be changed to the next size up as the users' feet grow.
