Alpha's project - A user interface for non-expert users to capture the bio measurements of patients to create bespoke mallet splints

This project was run in conjunction with the Rapid Innovation unit (RIU) in UL.

The aim of the project was to develop a user interface solution to capture bio measurement to produce customised mallet splints.

The mallet splint developed by RIU is a novel 3-D printed splint that helps expand upon the current solution of immobilizing the effected finger(s) to give a more comprehensive care and a streamlined approach that can enable any avulsion injury to be treated at a higher rate by non-expert users which relieves the pressure of making thermoset plastic custom casts on the HSE health system.

Alpha’s solution was a new user interface for non-expert users to capture the bio measurements of patients to create the bespoke mallet splints that are 3D printed for patients suffering from avulsion injuries.
