This module examines the philosophy of palliative care and the influence of policy to inform the provision of quality, person-centred service. Advancing roles are explored and critically discussed within the context of patient and family support throughout the trajectory of a life-limiting illness. The relationship between physical, psychosocial and spiritual dimensions of hope and loss is evaluated. A focus on dynamic communication strategies supporting teamwork and decision-making is integrated throughout the module.
