To support access to public healthcare services for migrants, including Ukrainian refugees in Ireland, the Department of Health will fund 15 places on three pilot microcredential courses, one at University of Limerick and two at Dublin City University.

The purpose of the bursaries is to upskill exiting interpreters and to train people who are interested in working as interpreters.

The University of Limerick course, Communication and Interpreting in the Irish Healthcare System, will start on 22nd October with an in-person workshop, followed by six online evening lectures.

The Dublin City University courses, one on ethics and one on interpreting practice, will be fully online and will start in January 2023.
