Yassin was born and raised in London, UK where he received his MSc degree at University College London (UCL). He has interned under Professor Esser, University of Freiburg, Germany working on the synthesis of dibenzopentalene nanorings and under Professor Zhang of Nankai university, China working on the synthesis of Covalent organic frameworks (COFs). He completed his Masters research on the ‘Synthesis and Crystal Engineering of organic dyes for the fabrication of organic electronics’ under Dr Dejan-Krešimir Bučar before joining the Zaworotko group in December 2019 as a Ph.D student to work on ‘Cocrystal-controlled Solid-state synthesis of ligands for Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs)’. His research interests include Crystal engineering, Cocrystals and Mechanochemical synthesis as a green alternative to solution-phase chemistry.
