Yara Santiago is a Ph.D. student in Federal University of Ceará, Brazil, and she is a visiting Ph.D. student (6 months) at the University of Limerick. She was born in 1989 and received her B.Sc. degree in Pharmacy in 2013 from Federal University of Ceará, Brazil.

During this time she joined at Centro de Desenvolvimento e Ensaios Farmacêuticos (CEDEFAR-UFC), which is a Center of Pharmaceutical Equivalence, where she performed analytical activities, working with generic medicines, and integrated a project involving the implementation of reference standards in Brazil, promoted by ANVISA.

In 2015 she received her M.Sc. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with emphasis in Crystal Engineering under supervision of Prof. Alejandro Pedro Ayala.

In 2015 she started her Ph.D. under the same supervision, and her research is focused on Crystal Engineering and solid-state characterization, with interest in crystallography.
