Transition Year Work Experience

Are you a Transition Year student who is considering studying languages at third level? Do you enjoy learning about different languages and cultures? Over the course of a week, you can immerse yourself in diverse linguistic landscapes, explore cultures, and gain invaluable insights into the exciting world of language studies at University of Limerick.

We provide hands-on learning opportunities where students can attend lectures and tutorials in their desired languages and discover new subjects which complement these languages, such as linguistics or film studies. Students can also get a taste of university life as you interact with current students, tour our campus facilities, and gain valuable advice on navigating higher education.

This work experience can be personalised based on your own interests, experiences, or curiosities!

If you would like to organise a work placement with us, email catherine.jeanneau@ul.ie indicating your language preferences and suggested dates.

#ThinkLanguages

The School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics supports the initiatives organised by Post Primary Languages Ireland and Languages Connect.

We have been particularly involved with #ThinkLanguages, a national TY celebration of modern and foreign languages. University of Limerick supports this initiative by organising events and school visits to promote language learning at third level and encourage TY students to engage with languages.
