The Language Learning Hub (LLH) is located in LC1-008 (Level 1 of the Languages Building). The Languages Building is located near the Millstream Building, opposite the South entrance to the Living Bridge.

Any UL student can use the LLH as a study space, however our services and facilities are offered with languages students particularly in mind. The majority of LLH users are:

  • Undergraduate student studying French, German, Irish, Japanese, Spanish, and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
  • Postgraduate students studying for a Masters in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or foreign languages.
  • Faculty, staff and researchers in the School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics.
  • Students studying a language independently.
  • International students aiming to improve their English while in Ireland.
  • University of Limerick Language Centre students using the LLH to complement their classroom work.

Come and find out! We have a large collection of resources to help with your language learning, including material for French, German, Irish, Japanese, Spanish, and EFL/TEFL.

Students may borrow material from the LLH for one day at a time. Students must fill out a form with their name and contact details in exchange for borrowing material. Any borrowed material must be returned to the LLH before closing time on the same day as they borrowed it.

Note that DVDs may not be removed from the LLH. We provide the facilities to watch DVDs in the LLH.

We offer new and exciting activities every semester. Here are some activities that take place regularly:

  • Meet a language exchange partner at the Language Exchange Meeting
  • Join a discussion group to practise your listening and speaking skills
  • Attend our game sessions to use your target language in a fun, relaxed setting with friends
  • Watch a film in your target language (over 1,000 films to choose from!)
  • Borrow a book from our book club to practise your reading skills
  • Borrow a dictionary to help with your homework or translations

Please feel free to pop in to our office and ask for an introductory tour to find out more!

  • Students must provide their name and contact details in the Main Office if they wish to borrow material.
  • Students must return borrowed material within one day of borrowing.
  • Staff must inform a member of the LLH staff of the material they borrow.
