In August 2023, the Clinical Skills Team had the pleasure of welcoming Ray Sparling, Property and Facilities Manager at The Mid-West Simon Community on campus with his team.

As part of the laboratories refurbishment, the department replaced eight decommissioned hydraulic beds, that were still in excellent condition. In line with the broad principles of the circular economy and the University’s Sustainability Framework 2030, the CSL team reached out to the Mid-West Simon Community to see could the beds be put to good use. The emergency accommodations team were delighted to accept our donation of the beds.

The beds will be distributed across their mid-west service areas and will undoubtedly improve the quality of life for their clients.

Special thanks to both Ray and Jonathan Shinnors, Regional Manager for Emergency Accommodation at the Mid-West Simon Community for ensuring the beds were removed safely and with ease.

The Clinical Skills team wish everyone at the Mid-West Simon Community continued success in providing people across the region experiencing the trauma of homelessness, with housing and treatment services.
