Group leader in Green and Sustainable Chemistry. We are interested in ionic liquids, organometallic catalysts and biocatalysts for greener and more sustainable chemistry and chemical/biochemical engineering. BSc hons Chemistry (Aberdeen), PhD Organometallic Catalysis (St Andrews).
SeaFEED Research
We are preparing and testing non-toxic ionic liquids as solvents and solvent modifiers for extractions. Ionic liquids are liquids that comprise of only ions; they have much lower melting points than ionic solids like table salt, and can have excellent solvent properties. Work is concentrating on ions derived from natural chemicals.
