Tuesday, 30 April 2024

Dr Karol Mullaney-Dignam (History) was an adjudicator, along with Dr Éimear O'Connor (Director of Collections and Access, National Museum of Ireland) at the 2024 All-Ireland final of ARTiculation Ireland held at the Bernal Institute, UL, on 24 April.

ARTiculation Ireland is a competition for secondary school students (15-19 years) that aims to engage them, regardless of background or experience, with art in order to develop their personal observation, research, analysis, and public speaking skills. Organised by Julia Walsh (Tipperary Museum of Hidden History) and Claudia Kohler (Kerry County Museum), participating students delivered a ten minute presentation before their peers and a wider audience about a work of art, an artefact, or piece of architecture of their choice.

Finalists were selected from internal school heats and regional heats. The winner of the 2024 final was Aaron Fahey from CBS High School Clonmel who spoke about German artist Josef Albers' Homage to the Square series.
