Kathy O' Sullivan completed a Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Gaeilge in University College Cork, before going on to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Mathematics Teaching) in University of Limerick. Kathy has taught Mathematics and Gaeilge in a post primary school, before returning to work in the University of Limerick. Kathy is now working as National Programme Co-ordinator for the Professional Diploma in Mathematics for Teaching. The Professional Diploma is a two year part time university diploma to upskill out-of-field teachers of mathematics in post-primary schools and is jointly accredited by the University of Limerick and NUI Galway through the UL/NUIG Strategic Alliance.  Kathy is currently undertaking a PhD under the supervision of Dr Niamh O’Meara, Prof Merrilyn Goos and Prof Paul Conway. The research space Kathy aims to address is “Numeracy teaching and learning at post-primary level in Ireland”. My research interests include numeracy across the curriculum and continuous professional development for teachers in STEM disciplines.
