Meet Luke

I’m a designer from Mayo on the west coast of Ireland. I chose to study Product Design because I was not the best at the typical subjects like English and languages, but I loved the practical subjects such as construction and technology. These were the subjects in which I excelled, so for me, this course was a no-brainer! Also, there is a connection between the students and lecturers, unlike other classes where you would be another student number. This makes the design studio a positive place.

I love seeing an idea grow and change throughout the design process and evolve into a well-refined finished product.

ABLE Smart Pen

ABLE is a Smart Pen designed to help third-level students with dyslexia and help them with Spelling, Reading, and Comprehension.

ABLE aims to tackle multiple aspects of learning that people with dyslexia struggle with. The smart pen allows students to read words that they may struggle with, assist with spelling, and give them the ability to extract key sentences from their notes and transfer them to a digital file creating a summary.
