The Faculty of Science and Engineering Special Entrance Mathematics Examination

The Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Limerick (UL) offer a special entrance mathematics examination to give Leaving Certificate students a second chance to pursue a course of study in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

The special mathematics examination is for students who achieve sufficient CAO entry points and satisfy all other entrance requirements, but who do not achieve the requisite grade in Mathematics (Higher only) in the Leaving Certificate.

The examination is based on the Leaving Certificate Curriculum in the Higher Paper Only.

The examination will take place prior to second round CAO results at the University of Limerick.

Structure: The examination paper will be similar to the 2021 Mathematics (Higher Level) papers as follows:

Section A:  Six short questions, to answer four questions (25 marks each)

Section B:  Four long questions, to answer two (50 marks each)
