Hands-on learning at UL Cybercamp
Last week, the first session of the annual UL CyberCamp took place. The camp is being led by the ICT Learning Centre in collaboration with the Computer Science and Information Systems Department and the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at UL. Three camps will take place between Monday June 22 and Thursday July 2. The camps will give 120 students from 45 local schools an introduction to core software and electronics topics such as web design, games development with Java, electronics and robots.
During each camp, the students are shown how to make a website, design and code simple games in the Java programming language, programme robots with Lego Mindstorm toolkits, and build a simple circuit to monitor a person’s heart rate.
