Wellcome Trust Collaborative awards in science

The Wellcome Trust invites applications for its collaborative awards in science. These promote the development of new ideas and speed up the pace of discovery in areas relevant to the Wellcome Trust. Teams of researchers, consisting of independent research groups, are funded to work together on the most important scientific problems that can only be solved through collaborative efforts.

Lead applicants must be basic, clinical or public health researchers based in the UK, Republic of Ireland, or low- or middle-income countries. Each applicant in the team must:

•be essential to the proposed collaborative research;

•bring different expertise to the research question;

•have proven research experience in their field and in collaborative research;

•be leading their own research groups;

•be based at an eligible organisation, which may be the same or different to that of other team members;

•have a permanent, open-ended or long-term rolling contract, or the guarantee of one.

Team members may be based anywhere in the world. Teams must include more than two people and usually no more than seven. Interdisciplinary research collaborations are encouraged.

Awards are worth up to £4 million each for up to five years.
