Wellcome Trust Clinical research career development fellowship
Specifics:

The Wellcome Trust invites applications for its clinical research career development fellowships. These enable medical, dental, veterinary and clinical psychology graduates to continue research at postdoctoral level and develop scientific independence.

Fellowships are open to individuals who have completed or submitted a higher degree thesis, preferably a PhD, and want to pursue a career as a clinical academic. Medical and dental candidates should have a national training number and be enrolled on a recognised UK training programme, or have a certificate of completion of training, and General Medical Council registration with a practise license. Veterinary applicants should have a degree in veterinary medicine, be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and have experience in clinical practice. Clinical psychology candidates must have obtained a professional doctorate-level qualification in clinical psychology accredited by the British Psychological Society and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Those applying to work in the Republic of Ireland must be registered with the relevant Irish regulation bodies. Sponsorship from an eligible host organisation in the UK or Republic of Ireland is mandatory, as is a strong track record in their area of research relative to career stage. Applications must identify a sponsor at the host institution who will hold an established post for the duration of the fellowship.

The fellowship can be held for up to eight years, which is split into two stages. Neither stage can be held for longer than five years. Fellowships at stage one range from £80,000 to £140,000 per year and at stage two from £160,000 to £250,000 per year. Funding supports a basic salary, research expenses and personal removal expenses.
