UK-Ireland collaboration in the digital humanities workshop

The Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Irish Research Council invite expressions of interest for their UK-Ireland collaboration in the digital humanities workshop. Funding enables UK-based research to attend the UK-Ireland collaboration in digital humanities workshop, to be held from 22 to 23 October 2019 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. The workshop provides a platform for the delivery of a new programme focused on digital humanities research. The aim is to give participants the opportunity to network, form partnerships, share expertise and begin discussions that will foster future collaborative activity. The workshop seeks to:

•officially launch the programme;

•convene leading research experts from the UK and Ireland in order to build new interdisciplinary

partnerships around the vision, aims and objectives of the programme;

•explore the complementary strengths of the UK and the Republic of Ireland in the digital humanities and the value of working in closer collaboration in order to achieve world-leading standards;

•identify thematic priorities to be taken forward by the partners and embedded within future funding calls.

Discussions will focus on themes including contemporary or disruptive approaches in the digital humanities, creative industries and cultural heritage, and digital humanities and societal challenges.

UK-based researchers at all stages of their careers who meet AHRC’s standard eligibility requirements may apply. Applicants should have a particular research interest in the topics outlined above and be able to demonstrate both the insights and approaches they would seek to bring to the workshop and what they would seek to gain from it.

Funding covers transport, accommodation and subsistence costs during the event.
