Fulbright Irish student awards
Specifics: 

The Irish Fulbright Commission invites applications for its Irish student awards. These enable postgraduate students to complete research or study in the US for up to one year. Students may either complete a master’s or PhD at a US institution or conduct research as visiting researchers as part of a current postgraduate programme in Ireland or the EU. The following awards are available:

•Fulbright general awards, open to all disciplines except clinical medical studies;

•Fulbright-Creative Ireland museum fellowships, for placements in museums in San Francisco, Austin or Washington DC;

•Fulbright-Enterprise Ireland student award, including new technologies that will lead to job creation and increased exports;

•Fulbright-Environmental Protection Agency award in the areas of water, climate change and sustainability;

•Fulbright-Geological Survey of Ireland award in geoscience, including geological and marine mapping, geological processes, Earth observation, groundwater, raw materials and minerals, and public perception of Earth resources;

•Fulbright-Marine Institute award in the areas of marine science or business;

•Fulbright-Maurer School of Law LL.M. award;

•Fulbright-Teagasc award in agriculture, forestry or food;

•Fulbright-University of Notre Dame student LL.M. award in international human rights;

•associated award offering a partial tuition waiver at Penn Law School;

•associated award offering a graduate assistantship for a student undertaking a STEM master’s degree at Florida Polytechnic University.

Applications are open to Irish or EU citizens resident in Ireland for the past three years. Applicants should be current or prospective postgraduate students with a minimum upper second class grade. Dual US-Irish citizens, green card holders, current US residents and candidates with extensive experience of studying or living in the US are not eligible. Preference will be given to visiting researcher applicants in the latter stages of their PhDs.

Each award provides a monetary grant, accident and emergency insurance and J-1 visa administration.
