COMING SOON: History bursary

*** This opportunity will be available soon. The next call is expected to open in March 2019. The following information is subject to change. ***

Universities Ireland invites applications for its history bursary. This supports students commencing master’s or doctoral studies on a topic relating to the 1912 to 1923 period in Ireland, the decade of the First World War and the division of the island into the states of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Applications are particularly welcome this year from students undertaking work on the impact of events in 1918 on the island.

Applications are open to all students currently registered at, or who have graduated from, a university or other higher education institution and who have been accepted onto a postgraduate course at an Irish or British university. Students that have already embarked on a master’s or doctoral programme are not eligible. The scheme is aimed primarily at students of history, although it is also open to students from other related disciplines such as literature, politics, economics, sociology and religion. Applicants can hold a primary degree from a university or other higher education institution in any country.

A total of four bursaries, worth €6,500 each are available.
