Biography

Vincent Morgan is a Post-doctoral Researcher specialising in Power Electronics at the University of Limerick (UL), Ireland. He received his MSc degree from the University of Surrey, UK, in 2014 and his B.Eng in Electronic and Computer Engineering from UL in 2013, where he specialised in Robotics.

Prior to this appointment, Vincent worked as a Research Fellow in Surrey Space Centre (SSC) at the University of Surrey, UK, where he worked on two projects. The first project was Intrepid, a spherical air-bearing satellite AOCS (attitude orbit control system) testbed custom designed for Airbus Defense and Space, Germany and the DLR (German Space Agency). The second project was SMESat a multi million Euro FP7 Satellite research project with 10 partners from 7 countries. Vincent was appointed as project manager for this project soon after joining the project but also worked on and contributed to the mechanical, electrical (Circuit design, PCB layout) design of the satellite and software integration/testing of the satellites payloads.

Between 1996-2006, Vincent worked as a Managing Director and a Precision Engineer at Morgan Precision Engineering Ltd.

His current research work focuses on hardware implementation of adaptive digital control laws for two projects:
1. ADACON: Next generation smart LED lighting applications using a PFC Boost / Flyback Topology.
2. RESCON: Digitally-Controlled LLC Resonant SMPS with Wide Output Voltage Range.
