Biography
Adrian McDonagh is the Chief Technical Officer in the Education Technology Centre within the School of Education. Adrian first came to work in UL in 2003 having worked in the IT industry. In 2011 Adrian graduated with Masters of Arts in Education through research. The title of the thesis was Examining the Role of the ICT Coordinator in Providing Technical and Pedagogical Support in Post Primary Schools in Ireland.Within his role as Chief Technical Officer, Adrian through laboratory work aims to impart the practical skills to enable Education students from Diploma to Doctorate to become confident practitioners and producers of communications technology materials in the context of teaching and learning. Some of the work within the Ed Tech Centre is preparing and monitoring laboratories for student teachers to teach secondary school pupils in smaller class sizes, this introduces the student in second year to lesson planning and good teaching practices, these laboratories are fully equipped live recording studios enabling the student with a tutor to later review and assess the recording.
Adrian also provides AV and IT solutions to all the staff within the School and also to students in the field while on teaching practice.
