James Gleeson

Biography

Post-primary teacher of RE, English and Irish, City of Dublin VEC and South Tipperary VEC. Project Leader SPIRAL 2, EC Transition from School to Work Project (1983-1987). Head of Department of Second-level Education (1991-1995) after integration of Thomond College of Education with University of Limerick. Administrative duties and membership of many University committees and Teaching Practice supervision. These committees included: Academic Council, University Management Committee, Teaching Practice Committee (Chair). Liaison with the external community and organisation of guest lecture series. From 1993-1995 I spent two days per week with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) as Project Manager for the development of the Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA).
