Dr. Vasanth Kumar Kannuchamy
Biography
I joined the Department of Chemical Sciences as a Lecturer of Chemical Engineering in June 2019. My research area focuses on gas storage, gas separations, carbon material synthesis, molecular modelling, crystal growth science, process analytical technology, purification of active pharmaceutical ingredients, in silico synthesis of porous materials and characterization, fuel cell catalysts, green carbons and waste water treatment.I did my bachelors degree in chemical technology and masters in environmental technology. I have two PhD degrees, a PhD in Environmental Technology from Anna University (India) and a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from University of Porto (Portugal.).
I also won several prestigious fellowships that includes Senior Research Fellow (CSIR India), Juan de la Cierva (MICINN, Spain), IAPP Marie Curie Research Fellowship (EC) and IEF Marie Curie Research Fellowship (EC).
I published > 80 first plus communicating author high impact articles in numerous high impact journals that include Chemical Reviews (IF: 52.613), Journal of Materials Chemistry A (IF: 11.301),
ChemSusChem (IF: 7.962),which are cited 7200 times with an h index of 32. I was 'one of the top 50 cited researchers in the world' 2004-2007 under the field of colloid and interface science. I received gold plated pen from Elsevier for publishing the most cited article.
Currently, I am the PI of the project CRYSTASSEMB, funded by the Enterprise Ireland and European Commission.
Teaching: I am the module leader of four core chemical engineering subjects, Bioprocess Engineering 1 &2, Chemical Engineering Design, and Batch Process Engineering (Pharma).
