Dr. Muhammad Mahmood Ali has been working as a Post Doctoral Researcher in Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, University of Limerick, Ireland since December 2018. Previously, he had been working as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi, KPK, Pakistan since January 2017. He received his B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from The Islamia University of Bahawaplur in 2009, the M.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from the GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi, Pakistan, in 2012, and his PhD Degree (with Distinction) in Photonic Engineering on Bright Sparks Fellowship from renowned Photonics Research Centre, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2016. Furthermore he has worked as visiting Ph.D research fellow at OFSRC, University of Limerick, Ireland for one year from December 2015 to December 2016. His research interests include optical fiber sensors and lasers with applications, advanced digital signal and image processing, advanced electromagnetics and microwave engineering. He has two Malaysian patents and has published more than fifteen research publications in well recognized OSA, and IEEE journals and few are in queue. He is also active participant in various international and national conferences as well as in seminars, workshops and colloquiums. He is reviewer of IEEE Photonics Journal, Optics Letters, Elsevier Journal of 'Measurement', Springer Journal of 'Optical and Quantum Electronics (OQE)', The Advanced Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES), Journal, Chinese Optics Letters (COL), International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics. Moreover, he was an invited speaker at European Photonics Industrial Consortium (EPIC) Tech Watch in Conjunction with The Micro Photonics International Congress Expo 11-13 October 2016, MESSE Berlin, Germany. Also He was awarded Seal of Excellence on his Research Proposal for Marie S. Curie Individual Fellowship (MSC-IF). He is the Life Fellow of Pakistan Academy of Engineering (PAE), member of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and the National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS) Pakistan.

Mode converters for space division multiplexing technology.
