Registered general and public health nurse, completed a PhD in nursing in 2019, following receipt of a PhD Scholarship in December 2013. The focus of this multiphase mixed methods research study was to develop and test a quality care-metric (QCM) to measure the practice of the public health nurse at the first postnatal visit. In parallel to PhD research, I was employed as a Project Officer for Nursing and Midwifery QCMs until 2018, leading the development and implementation of QCMs at regional and national level. In November 2018 I was employed as a Child Health Programme Development Officer coordinating and implementing the National Healthy Childhood Programme in Cork/Kerry Community Healthcare Organisation (CHO). I was employed as a Lecturer in Nursing at the National University of Ireland, Galway from February 2020 to May 2022. Since May 2022 I have been employed as a Lecturer in Nursing at the University of Limerick. I was awarded an Evidence Synthesis Ireland Fellowship in June 2020. I commenced as an Early Career Researcher Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Advanced Nursing in September 2021.
Research Interests
Research interests span across community nursing particularly child and maternal health, teaching and learning, professional development and quality improvement in healthcare. Methodological experience includes qualitative research, instrument development using ‘modified' Delphi technique, and qualitative and quantitative evidence synthesis.
