Research Interests

My PhD research focuses on overseas volunteering as a form of social learning, where participants engage in a process of professional development in a different cultural and social context. The analysis is informed by Bourdieu's theorising on social reproduction and by postcolonial theory on the positionality of Western volunteers by integrating the concepts of reflexivity, privilege, social reproduction and habitus.
