Biography
Dr Motti Ader is a lecturer and researcher in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), in the Interaction Design Centre and Dept. of Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS), at University of Limerick.Dr Motti Ader has over 20 years' experience on digital media, programming and web. After a professional high school (CTI, UNESP-Bauru, Brazil, 2000-2001), she completed her undergraduate studies on Image and Sound (UFSCar, Brazil, 2002-2005) with a scholarship to develop research and outreach projects in web accessibility, 3D navigation and interactive exhibitions. She holds a Master degree in Arts and Digital Media (University of Paris, France, 2007-2010) and a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) from University of Toulouse, France (2012-2016).
The originality of her PhD thesis work was the use of motion capture technologies to study the movements of older adults during interaction with touchscreen. After her PhD, she was awarded a MSCA Career-Fit Postdoctoral Research fellowship and joined the School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Sciences at University College Dublin, Ireland (2017-2020). During her postdoctoral research, she initiated collaboration with industry partners on the design of digital health interventions (UCD, Insight Centre, CeADAR - Centre for Data Analytics, and Kinesis Health Technologies Ltd., Dublin)
Dr Motti Ader joined UL in 2021 as Assistant Professor. In 2022, she started a research project funded by SFI Industry RDI fellowship (2022-2024) in partnership with Analog Devices International (ADI).
Her core research interests are HCI, human motion analysis and educational technologies. She has experience in supervision of interdisciplinary research projects, with undergraduate and postgraduate students.
She is co-chair of Athena SWAN initiatives in CSIS and Lero@UL, and involved in many initiatives supporting young people in STEM2D and career development for women in academia.
