Dr. Connie Healy


Dr. Connie Healy holds a B.Comm and LL.B from the National University of Ireland, Galway. She is a qualified solicitor with fifteen years post qualification experience in litigation. Her PhD entitled "Resolution of Conflict in Family Law Matters: An Alternative and Child-Inclusive Approach was funded by the Irish Research Council. Connie has won a number of awards nationally and internationally to include scholarships from the Commission on European Family Law, the Irish Association of Law Teachers and The International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She is an accredited mediator (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution, London CEDR) and a collaborative lawyer. Prior to taking up her post at the University of Limerick, she lectured part-time at the National Univeristy of Ireland, Galway.

Research Interests

Connie's research interests lie in the fields of alternative dispute resolution/commerical mediation, family law and children's rights. She is particularly interested in the benefits of a multi-disciplnary approach to law and legal education

Teaching Interests

Teaching Interests include: Family Law; Constitutional Law; Administrative Law; Human Rights, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Company Law. I have taught large and small groups - Law and Non-Law Students.I also completed a Graduate Studies Module on Teaching and Learning, CELT, NUI Galway (2012)
