Biography

I am Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies and Comparative Literature in the School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics at UL. Prior to joining UL, I was Assistant Professor of French and Italian in the European Studies Department at San Diego State University (US), and Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Département des littératures de langue française, de traduction et de création at McGill University (Canada). I hold a PhD from Johns Hopkins University and Master's degrees in Comparative Literature from Université Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle and Université Paris VIII Vincennes-Saint-Denis.
My work has appeared in a variety of European and North American journals, including Modern Language Notes, Translation Studies, Tangence and Studies in Twentieth & Twenty-First Century Literature. My first book (2020, Classiques Garnier) explores the relationship between literature and politics in France and Italy during the 1950s and 1960s, focusing on writers Claude Simon and Carlo Emilio Gadda and using a sociocritical and transnational approach.

I am currently working on two research projects: 1) on women mediators and feminist translation in the second half of the 20th century; 2) on literary representations of gender-based and domestic violence in contemporary literature.

I welcome expressions of interest for MA and PhD projects in any of my fields of expertise.

Research Interests

My research interests include 20th century French, Francophone and Comparative literature, women's and gender studies, translation and multilingualism studies, cultural transfer studies, and sociology of literature.
