Biography

Ailish Hannigan is Professor of Biomedical Statistics at the School of Medicine, University of Limerick. She started her research career as a Research Fellow in a WHO Collaborating Centre for Oral Health Services Research where she was involved in the design and analysis of population studies and clinical trials. She joined UL as a lecturer in Statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics before moving to the School of Medicine in 2012.Her research interests include using routinely collected data for population health research, data literacy and participatory modelling in health. Current projects include data mining of clinical records for research in primary care, the analysis of cohort and registry studies, disease surveillance and participatory research on migrant health in Ireland. She is also a member of the Public and Patient Involvement Research Group in UL.She is passionate about statistics education and has received an Excellence in Teaching Award (Special Commendation) from the University of Limerick.
