Therapeutic Interventions in Dementia Care

The purpose of this module is to provide the practitioner with the opportunity to develop knowledge and expertise in nursing people with dementia. Particular attention is given to attending to the physical, psychosocial, emotional needs of the patient emphasising the need for effective communication and the use of specific interventions and approaches. The importance of support for the person with dementia and family within a range of care settings is recognised and emphasised. The concept of and importance of the environment will be deeply explored. Palliative care and end of life issues are also critically discussed.
