Congratulations on behalf of the department to Professor Fiona Murphy, Professor Alice Coffey and Dr Liz Kingston who are part of a European consortium who have been successful in an Erasmus + Knowledge Alliances for Higher Education bid. The project is entitled ‘Hospitals and faculties together for prosperous and scientific based healthcare’.  It is a 3 year project to increase research capacity and capability in registered nurses in Europe.

The lead applicant is the Angela Boskin Faculty of Nursing, Jesenice, Slovenia  and there are 7 partner organisations in Spain, Italy, Slovenia and ourselves in Ireland.

The joint appointment model between the HSE and UL and the strategy used in the UL Hospital group to increase research capacity and capability in nurses is seen as good practice and forms a template for the actions to be taken in the project. Outputs will include: New curricula, study programmes, courses or training modules, E-learning and other open online courses around building research capacity and capability in practicing nurses.
