The Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology Centre based at University of Limerick’s Bernal Institute is celebrating award success on the double.

PMTC took home two awards at the Pharma Industry Awards 2022 for Pharma Research Centre of the Year and Pharma Project of the Year - Small: ATEX Rated Clean-in-Place Facility.

One of the leading State funded, industry informed research centres providing advanced technology solutions for the pharma-sector, PMTC Director Sarah Hayes said the awards “recognised the excellence and impact delivered by the centre to the Irish pharma industry”.

“The Pharma Industry Awards recognise and celebrate the most original and innovative individuals and companies that demonstrate excellence in the industry, and we are really proud to receive the awards among such strong competitors in both categories,” she added.

Funded by Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland since 2013, PMTC is in its ninth year serving the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland including the wider ecosystem of service and technology providers.

PMTC was refunded for a second phase in 2019 on foot of an independent assessment in which the estimated economic impact of PMTC by 2022 would reach €85M.

PMTC has grown since its inception in 2013 both in the depth of research performed and in its network, now with 38 member companies who contribute to the core research programme and a further 200+ participating companies who access the centre for a range of benefits including contract research and expert knowledge centred on contemporary technical challenges facing the industry.
