South Tipperary General Hospital (STGH), Clonmel is the Acute hospital services in South Tipperary and provides services to the bordering areas of North Tipperary and West Waterford increasing the catchment area up to 135,000.  South Tipperary General Hospital is a 255 Bed hospital providing acute services for the South Tipperary population of 86,000 people (2006 census). A number of outreach outpatient clinics, radiology services, Alzheimer's, Mental Health and Disability Units and a Minor Injuries Unit remain operational at Our Lady's Hospital Cashel in accordance.

The Obstetric Department, South Tipperary General Hospital provides outreach clinics in both Thurles and Tipperary Town.
