The acceptance criteria for each course is detailed on each of the course brochures available on course pages. A key element in facilitating the return of adult learners to education is MDU's Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This is a system whereby learning acquired through certified programmes and/or through experience in industry can be acknowledged as a basis for admission onto programmes. If you do not meet the detailed criteria for course application, note that in RPL is often considered as a means of entry to a course.
From time to time MDU, UL courses are partially funded through Skillsnet initiatives. Please contact your local Skillsnet office for more information. This is possible after commencing your application. This does not apply to public sector workers.
Application deadline for August 2020 start is July 14th 2020
However there are a high number of applications and some programmes may fill in advance of this date.
Gather the required documentation to support your application, as detailed below, BEFORE you start your online application. You must have these documents ready to upload when you reach the upload screen of the online application form, as you will not be able to upload at a later stage.
A non-refundable application fee will be requested before you submit your application. If paying online by debit/credit card, the fee is €35.
List of Support Documents required with your application:
Results for examinations mentioned on your application form and/or confirmation of the award. Graduates of UL need only provide us with their UL Student ID number.
Certified translations of your award and transcripts, if they are not in English.
A recent digital quality head and shoulders photograph for your ID card.
A copy of passport for verification of photo and full legal name.
A signed sponsorship letter from your employer, if they are funding your application and tuition fee.
Any other relevant documentation to support your application, such as a CV or professional certificates, supporting statements etc.
