Summer services at UL Library

When: Monday, May 14, 2018 - 12:00

The Glucksman Library will remain open throughout the summer, open until 11pm on weekdays, reverting to 9pm the week of June 11th. The library will be open at weekends until Sunday June 10th.  There will be late opening on Thursdays coming up to repeat exams.  Please consult the library website for details of opening hours when planning your visit.  24-hour (remote) access to the library’s electronic resources including 300,000+ full text journals and ebooks is available via https://login.proxy.lib.ul.ie

Construction works related to the opening of the new library and integration of the existing library with the new building may necessitate re-orientation of some public areas but there is no planned reduction in services this summer.

UL students departing for the summer are reminded to return or renew material that is or will become overdue shortly, especially students intending to graduate in the summer.

Students and researchers who need to access other libraries as part of their work can be facilitated through one of the cooperative schemes that the library operates with other academic libraries. Undergraduates, part-time and distance students can now apply for the SCONUL scheme too. Undergraduates will be able to use this scheme to access but not borrow from participating libraries.

Visitors are welcome to apply for access to the building but only authorised members of the University may access the library's electronic resources. The library welcomes membership applications from individuals, alumni and organisations who have an ongoing need to access the Glucksman Library.

A growing collection of popular fiction is available to staff and students from the library’s ground floor Popular Reading room and you are invited to browse the catalogue, or the shelves, to select some summer reading.

Our best wishes to all staff and students for the coming period and we look forward to welcoming you to the new Glucksman Library when it opens in the coming months.
